THE SECLUSION OF BLOOMSBURY, THE VIBRANCY OF CENTRAL LONDON, THE PERFECT HOTEL
When you experience the four star serenity of The Montague on the Gardens Hotel, it's hard to believe you're in central London. This is the quiet haven of peace from which you can enjoy the bustling heart of the city – and still avoid the crowds. We're a handy hotel, too, for travellers arriving from Europe via Eurostar and the refurbished St Pancras Station.
Our nearest attraction is the vast and inspirational British Museum. You can't miss it because it is just a few yards from the hotel's main entrance. The surrounding area – known as Bloomsbury – is the traditional haunt of London's literary set; a group of enormously influential authors including Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes and E.M.Forster formed the Bloomsbury Group who lived, worked and studied together. Along with the history of Charles Dickens, who also resided in the area, the Montague is the ideal location to take in some interesting British history.
A short walk to the south lie the narrow exciting streets of Soho and Covent Garden, and the West End theatres clustered around Shaftesbury Avenue. Covent Garden is a shoppers' paradise, with intriguing boutiques at every turn. It's also home to the Royal Opera House and the London Transport Museum.
To the south-west of the hotel is Oxford Street and Selfridges. For more exclusive shopping, walk on to Regent Street, Bond Street and the glittering attractions of Mayfair.
There is a wide selection of buses that can take you to all parts of London including Victoria (Gatwick Express), Paddington (Heathrow Express), Kings Cross St Pancras (Eurostar), Euston, Oxford Street and Knightsbridge (shopping galore!). We are also just a 5 minute walk from Russell Square tube station, which is on the Piccadilly Line with links to all Heathrow Terminals.
Other areas of interest for business or pleasure that are easily accessible from the hotel include the finance district, China Town, University of London, Cordon Bleu, Great Ormond Street Hospital and many more!
If you're looking for green space, head north towards Regent's Park and London Zoo. Both are close to Camden Town, the site of a series of lively street markets.
