Event: Hadrian: Empire and Conflict
Dates: July 24th 2008 until October 26th 2008
An interesting history exhibition is opening at the British Museum, not far from luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens, this summer.
From July 24th until October 26th 2008, Hadrian: Empire and Conflict will explore the "life, love and legacy" of one of Rome's more enigmatic emperors.
Ruling from AD 117–138, Hadrian had control over large areas of Europe, northern Africa and the Middle East and ruled with a strict military hand.
From realigning borders to crushing revolts, Hadrian also had a more artistic side - his passion for architecture and Greek culture.
Those on family breaks at the Montague may wish to take their children along to the exhibition, which contains objects from 31 museums including finds from recent excavations.
The BP-supported exhibition will feature more than 180 objects including sculptures, bronzes and architectural fragments alongside objects from the Museum's collection such as bronze head of Hadrian.
