East London Design Show, Shoreditch Town Hall, London

People looking for an alternative present for family and friends at Christmas can take a trip to the East London Design Show in Shoreditch Town Hall this weekend.

The show will offer an array of treasures, from jewellery to fashion and furniture, from 100 of London's new designers.

Organisers this year have introduced a new element to the show which will see artists from Mexico, Moscow, Holland and Italy join the UK designers.

Running every day from December 4th to 7th, the exhibition is also open late on Friday night, until 20:00 GMT, allowing time for some evening browsing.

A preview evening will be held on Thursday December 4th, with tickets costing £5 and including free drinks.

Normal admission prices are £4, with concessions costing £2 and children under 16 get in for free.

Families are welcomed at the event, as Creative Charlie will be hosting a kid's area, where children can make fantasy animals and hats and play in the enchanted garden.

Those taking the kids on a break away can opt for the Family Package at luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens.

It offers a second bedroom, next door to the first, for half price.
