Rope brings dark tale to the Almeida Theatre

Event: Rope at the Almeida Theatre
Date: December 10th until February 6th

Patrick Hamilton's dark classic Rope is set to be staged at the Almeida Theatre just in time for those staying at luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens around Christmas to catch it.

The theatre, which is around 2.6 miles away from the hotel, will stage the play between December 10th and February 6th.

Based on a real case, Rope, first staged in 1929, is the story of a student murder committed by two undergraduates who proceed to hide the body as the deceased's family is invited for a tea party.

According to the theatre, the story, which was adapted as a film by legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, is "a chilling anatomy of an apparently motiveless murder".

It is also "a brilliant snapshot of a jazz-age generation wallowing in privilege, booze, parties, a shallow obsession with fashion and films and a desperate inner emptiness".

Guests can combine an evening at the theatre with a two-course Table d'Hote dinner for two at the Montague by taking advantage of the Get More From Your Stay package.
