What's on in London this weekend?

The weekend is almost upon us, and for those heading to the capital, that means a chance to learn more about the life and work of Vincent Van Gogh.

Opening at the Royal Academy of Arts on Saturday is the Real Van Gogh: The Artist and His Letters exhibition, which will focus on the artist's remarkable correspondence.

More than 35 original letters, many of which are rarely shown in public due to their fragility, will be on display together with 65 paintings and 30 drawings which express the principle themes in his letters.

This promises to be a landmark exhibition and an absolute must for art lovers.

Those arriving on the Friday can enjoy a night at the theatre, with the Royal Opera House presenting the Stravinsky classic The Rake's Progress.

Director Robert Lepage has given his own special twist to this gem of an opera, transporting the story into 1950s America and following the 'hero' Tom Rakewell's route to fame and fortune and his unfortunate demise into madness.

Alternatively, couples could head to the Haymarket Theatre and join two old friends in Waiting for Godot, the fantastic Samuel Beckett play, which wowed London audiences when it was unveiled more than half a century ago.

With its combination of music hall, poetry and tension, it promises a great night's entertainment for theatre lovers.

Another highlight of the capital's cultural calendar this weekend is the Whitechapel Gallery's latest exhibition charting the growth of modern photography in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.

Where Three Dreams Cross: 150 Years of Photography from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh examines social realism and reportage of key political moments in the work of the countries' most prominent photographers.

History lovers may prefer to visit the Science Museum and trace the forgotten story of a thousand years of science in the Muslim world.

The 1001 Inventions exhibition explores the shared scientific heritage of diverse cultures and how many of the gadgets we enjoy today can trace their roots back to Muslim civilisation.

These are just a few of the many amazing events taking place in the capital this weekend that guests at the luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens can enjoy.

When the time comes to return to the hotel, couples can enjoy a bottle of Champagne courtesy of the Get More From Your Stay package.

Those who prefer could enjoy a two-course table d'hote dinner before they go out instead or take in a British Museum exhibition the next day with a pair of complimentary tickets.
