Event: Nelson's Ship in a Bottle
Date: May 24th until January 14th
Trafalgar Square is one of the most iconic attractions in London.
Steeped in history, no visitor to the city can leave without seeing it and learning about its local and global significance.
Also, nobody travelling from outside the city can say they have experienced an authentic London hotel experience until they have booked a stay at the luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens.
With its central location and reputation for class, the Montague is the perfect place to sample what it is that makes British hotels so special.
Guests who book the Get More From Your Stay package can enjoy either a late checkout on the final day, a bottle of chilled Champagne on arrival, traditional afternoon tea for two, a two-course table d'hote dinner or a pair of tickets to a British Museum exhibition.
With one part of the break taken care of, visitors can make their way to Trafalgar Square, where an interesting display will be unveiled in late May.
Yinka Shonibare is a leading Anglo-Nigerian artist and she will make history when she reveals her latest work - Nelson's Ship in a Bottle.
The artwork will go on display on the Fourth Plinth to reflect on the historical symbolism of Trafalgar Square, which commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar.
It is the first commission by a black British artist and features 37 large sails made from exuberant and highly-detailed textiles normally associated with African dress.
The work will touch on many topics, including African identity and independence and the complexity of British expansion across the seas.
