Event: Gregory Maqoma and Shanell Winlock - Southern Bound Comfort at the Lilian Baylis Studio
Date: October 6th to 9th
A new dance production focusing on relationships is to get its world premiere in London this October.
The brainchild of South African dancers Gregory Magoma and Shannel Winlock and Moroccoan-Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Bound is an exploration of the ties between people, our desires and our heritage.
It will be performed for the first time at the Lilian Baylis Studio from October 6th to 9th, when Magoma and Winlock make a welcome return to a venue they performed at last year as part of the Svapnagata Festival of Indian Music and Dance.
The new show, titled Southern Bound Comfort, features both Bound and Southern Comfort - the piece performed at the studio by the duo in 2009, which explores the ability of humans to make emotional and physical connections with their surroundings.
It received positive reviews from the Guardian, with the newspaper quoted by the Sadler's Wells website as saying: "The dance and drama are shuffled at such speeds that the interaction of choreography and sexual power play is always surprising."
Guests who are staying at luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens and are planning on attending the event may be hoping Bound matches or exceeds the high standard set by Magoma and Winlock's last creation.
And those who book the Get More From Your Stay package at the hotel will also be able to explore one of the capital's best-loved attractions, as one of the complimentary gifts guests can choose from is a pair of tickets to an exhibition at the British Museum.
