No visit to London is complete without trying one of the Capital’s famed afternoon teas and, thanks to the creativity and culinary excellence of the city’s pastry chefs, there is truly a spread available to suit every taste, style and occasion. The latest in luxury, themed afternoon teas, launching this week, takes diners on an exotic tasting adventure to the wild side, as The Montague on the Gardens in Bloomsbury introduces an all-new Safari Afternoon Tea to its award-winning afternoon tea menu.
Building on from the tremendous reaction to its fully refurbished Leopard Bar, The South African-owned and -operated hotel has created the delicious Safari Afternoon Tea as a celebration of its roots, marrying together the British institution of afternoon tea with some safari flair.
Available to both residents and non-residents of the hotel, and priced at £32 per person, the Safari Afternoon Tea is a South African-inspired smorgasbord of sweet and savoury treats, including:
- African spiced chicken sandwiches
- Classic cucumber and smoked salmon sandwiches
- Freshly baked scones with Devonshire clotted cream and jam
- Rum panacotta with ginger beer jelly
- Toasted coconut mousse
- Banana meringue
- Mango and kiwi tart
- Giraffe macaron with salted caramel
The afternoon tea is served with an extensive selection of traditional, flavoured, aromatic, fruit and green teas. Guests also have the option to enjoy The Montague’s signature leopard-print cocktail on the side; an African-inspired drink made with Amarula cream liquor, decorated with leopard spots and finished with a chocolate paw print. The Safari Afternoon Tea with Leopard Cocktail is priced at £40 per person.
The Safari Afternoon Tea is just one of the delicious afternoon tea offerings available at The Montague on the Gardens, and these luxurious dining experiences be enjoyed with the maximalist locale of the Leopard Bar, within one of the hotel’s elegant dining areas, or al fresco on The Montague’s Garden Terrace, overlooking the peaceful gardens of the Bedford Estate.
