The threat posed by climate change and the need to preserve natural resources are some of the most important issues facing us today. At The Montague, we are keenly aware of our responsibility to confront these problems head-on, and have instituted a Green Team to investigate and implement the ways we can contribute to this global process.
We are committed to our community and dedicated to social responsibility. Supporting local charities, conservation, preservation, nature, heritage and green initiatives including the personal development of each member of the team, is at the heart of everything we do.
The Bloomsbury Bees
We are the latest Red Carnation Hotel to welcome bees, in partnership with The Bedford Estates. We’re pleased to report that the hives, previously kept by the Duchess of Bedford, are settling in well. The Bloomsbury Bees join a swarm of bees cared for across Red Carnation Hotels, producing a glut of intensely-flavoured honey for our guests, supporting the dwindling numbers of the great British bee, and reducing food miles. Our team of four bee keepers were thrilled to receive training by Paul Walton, who is a member of the Bedfordshire Beekeepers Association.
One of our proudest partnerships is with the local Soup Kitchen on Tottenham Court Road. The Soup Kitchen provides a number of resources for the homeless, elderly, lonely and poor, including hot meals, clothes and toiletries. The charity aims to create a sense of belonging and community for people living on the streets of London. Many members of The Montague team have volunteered - we feel that this is a great way to give back to our local community and encourage our staff to give what they can.
