The Montague on the Gardens

Located behind The Montague on the Gardens and just moments from the British Museum, the leafy environs of Montague Street Gardens are among the best-kept secrets in central London. An unspoilt green space in the heart of the city, its immaculately tended lawns are dappled with the shade of ancient plane trees. For the first time in the gardens’ history, thanks to a partnership with The Montague, they are opening their gates to the public to hire as a prestigious events space for summer weddings, conferences, drinks receptions and dinners.

With its own beehives, whose sweet harvests serve The Montague’s breakfasts, and situated at the heart of London’s historic bohemian hub, the gardens are an ideal setting for a summer event. Anthony Turk, The Montague’s Director of Sales, says, “The gardens have a magical feel to them, characterised by its swirling paths and lush lawns which are overhung by mature trees. It is a pristine and tranquil space, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of central London. In fact, most people don’t even know it exists! Which, I think, is certainly part of the appeal.”

The gardens form part of The Bedford Estate, which has been in the Russell Family since 1669. The lawns accommodate up to 250 guests for standing receptions and up to 200 for formal seated dinners. Anthony says, “Montague Street Gardens is open for corporate events as well as private parties and will suit drinks receptions, formal dinners, weddings, product launches and experiential events. The industry has not seen an opening within the WC1 postcode, featuring a space of this size and capability for quite a few years now.”

To assist with event planning, The Montague is delighted to partner with The Edit, an acclaimed agency whose expertise tailors events to individual requirements. This means that every whim is taken care of, from start to finish, whether you’re planning a wedding beneath an emerald canopy or a smart corporate reception. Anthony says, “From the client’s point of view, they’ll not need to worry about sourcing all the different components required to deliver complex events. It couldn’t be more seamless.”
